• The series changed its showrunner for the second time in its run with Amanda Lasher stepping down and Wendy Straker Hauser taking over.
• The season was announced at the 2019 Freeform Upfront.
• Production on Season 4 began on July 26, 2019.
  • On March 12, 2020, Fahy announced that production of The Bold Type had been shut down due to the the ongoing COVID-19 corona-virus pandemic.
  • This season was originally going have 18 episodes, but due to the shutdown they were two episodes short of that goal. Meghann Fahy thinks that regardless they were lucky as a show where it got shutdown during production.
